Join me on my journey as I move into a 3000sq/ft workshop and fill it with machinery, big and small.
Making our new shop sign • ft. Creality Falcon 2
I've been gone for a while. But I'm back, completing two new shop projects with the workshop's newest machine.

Building a spraybooth, on a budget • ep1 studwork
Переглядів 18 тис.Рік тому
Can we build a spraybooth for our shop - for less than $1000? Well, we're about to find out. We tore down and out - and now it's time to build back up - starting with framing out a new Spraybooth and paint drying room we'll use to paint our carpentry and joinery projects. We also modify the existing studwork by adding a new door penetration, and fit return air filters to the existing dust extra...
Our first CNC machine • renovation ep4

It's the big day. The roof comes off, a lorry turns up, and a machine drops through the roof. Hopefully in a controlled fashion. A bunch of (expensive; thanks inflation) ducting arrives and I'm too impatient to wait for help getting it up.

In this episode, it's a mad rush to get ready for the delivery of a big machine. We continue to do everything in the wrong order, unexpectedly find ourselves moving our machines in weeks early, and cut our energy bills by over 70%. 0:31 Out comes the spray booth 1:19 Man in baby grow paints ceiling 3:10 Out with the old (lights) 4:11 Fluorescent tubes vs LED luminaires 5:55 First person screwin...

Our third week in the shop and the tear out continues. Our first bits of machinery arrive (too big for what we need), our first bits of shop infrastructure arrive (too big for what we need), and I power through some manflu to get things prepped while I wait for a paint delivery so we can get the shop painted. 0:35 - Hidden treasures 1:57 - Silly-con-carne 2:55 - Dangerous electrics 3:30 - Less ...
Old joinery workshop needs GUTTING • renovation ep1

Just over a week ago I got the keys to my new workshop. It's in pretty sad state, having seen thousands of kitchens built but not much cleaning in the past 27 years. Join me as I begin the tear out and renovation of the space into my dream joinery and woodworking workshop. 0:00 - First look at the workshop 1:21 - History 1:58 - Fixing the dust extractor 3:10 - Prepping the floors 4:10 - Wear ey...
You mentioned you had a laser so you could have done without the Unistrut. Just used one right angle bracket per beam to hang the threaded rod.
I have a creality falcon 2 40w machine. How do you cut white acrylic? Can you share the lightburn settings with me? Thank you for your help.
My dude, whatever happend to the next video?
honest question, why use foam instead of shims ?
At the head there’s nothing to shim against, so I wasn’t able to get it wedged tight that way. I did shim the sole to get it level though, the foam then makes everything solid and more importantly for the spray booth, more air tight
The falcon is not a cnc, it's a diode
What controls the position of the diode
@@m9workshop my laser will home as soon as it turns on. The lightburn software I use allows me to reset or change my home position. For focusing, it came with a distance tool to set the laser head according to the material thickness.
You got rid of any lawsuit possibility the second you took a cutting tool to it.
Come on……the anticipation!!!
Great to see you back
wow look, nothing
😘
Holy cow I thought you were a gonner
Welcome back! 😄
Have you completed the workshop build yet and did you get the CNC Up and running I was keen to see the finished shop.
Working on a new video and getting back to regular videos from next month, thanks for sticking in there 👍🏻
No worries pal I'll look forward to seeing how things have progressed for you.@@m9workshop
Ahem...subscribing and waiting for new content. Love to see your shop progress and know about your other shop that was mentioned in one of your videos.
What power/speed setting did you have it on for the white arcylic? And how many passes? TIA 😊
Im super late to this, but light burn has a trace image option, itll make vectors around the objects in the photo for ya
Are we ever going to see more content?
I'll be back...
where did you go? :(
I'll be back...
Definitely not to long of a video I will happily watch a 30 minute video
I can't wait to see the progress of this shop keep it up man you're doing great I love these videos
Short circuits can be actually easy to find if there is a board problem anyway, with a heating camera, put power through the board you'll see chips light up if they are shorted out
Honestly, it's probably something simple that an experienced person could help you with.
I love controls!
I would sue
Report the seller
Sue
Wish you luck trying to find the seller, phone probably dumped 👍🇮🇪☘️☹️
use generator to check machine it's electricity
eBay will refund if returned. He wants to keep it.
well did you get it running?
Nice one I'll look forward to the upcoming vids then ! Keep up the great work.
Looking forward to new videos as you build our your workspace more.
How's the workshop build going I am missing your posts seeing how your shop develops and feel your pain of working and trying to do the build all at the same time, hopefully your enthusiasm isn't suffering to much with the constant early starts and late finishes and working all week end as I did last year when I did mine.
Alas work + summer break has meant my time in the shop has been quite limited. But last week started getting back into the swing of things, want to start getting some more videos out soon! Just yesterday I got the first machine hooked up to the big extractor...
Pretty sure you're supposed to have that covered since that laser can kill your eyes from a reflection of a reflection...
You claim with eBay.
That was the wrong spindle fan. It is the z axis "spindle" control module. I take it is a Fanuc something. Hmu I think I still have the exact page of the Fanuc manual your looking for.
Great content, but fix the audio or talk louder, cheers
Oh me again. Thanks for great content. And English. Not that I am racist 😮 just makes a change from American 😅
Like you I am new to lightburn and lasering. I've just found if you take a photo of a n object/project load to light burn, right click on framed item you can trace and separate the trace to reveal the outline of shapes then resize and cut (I think 🤔) then blast away. If it works done in minutes. Hope I am correct. Regards len
Great tip! I'll give that a go
If you get the chance to snag a Co2 laser they are great and will cut Acrylic. But the humble Diode is awesome, great for making router templates and you can take them to the job. Just be careful if you want to try leather. Make sure it is real leather and not that fake stuff, that gives off toxic fumes when burnt.
I think i've caught the laser bug! hopefully someone will pop up wanting to sponsor M9 with one 😂 I think they're slept on for making jigs and doing layouts - that's what I want to talk about in my next video. Amazing tool if you want CNC accuracy but don't have the room for a CNC in the shop
It lives, almost! BTW in the winter, those HDFoam mats are great on the floor of your workshop.
work on fixing it has begun in earnest!
Is it a Lie Nielsen plane 😉
Hang on where.. is the video showing the CNC machine repairs and all the woes you had with the beast ?.. all we have seen is just a shorts video ..??
That’s a long story that deserves its own video. I am working on it and hope to have it out in the next few weeks 👍🏻
Good to see you back, how is the workshop? Sounds like you are settled in!
Sadly things have been so busy I’ve spent very little time in the shop. From next week though I’m aiming to hit it hard and get back to regular posting 🙏
@@m9workshop We miss you but understand that you need to earn money!
Great video!
The accuracy 🤌
Couple of points from a long time laser uses, with acrylic please make sure you have some extraction, with these open frames wear a pair of decent laser goggles, that laser will remove your eye sight in seconds if your unlucky and catch a direct shot. 3rd never leave the laser running with out being in the room it says it has safety features to tell you if it has caught fire, or got stuck, but once the laser starts burning its gone! Also with acruylic CA Glue is not great as it can cause it to craze, using acrylic glue is better or locktite / bostich or one of them do a all plastics glue and it really works well. If you want some white acrylic letters cutting for version 2 feel free to reach out to me and ill send you some or cut your design, I run a 80w co2 laser in essex so not far away from you I dont think
Good notes! I do have an enclosure from Creality but it was impossible to film with it, but I should call that out in the next video. Likewise I ran my spraybooth fan to purge the room but I think I’ll be keeping this laser and setting up proper extraction for it 👍🏻 That would be amazing Derek - I’ll reach out when we do V2 🙏
